The small screen of United States witnessed a unique reality show in the year 2002 – The American Idol. It was an offshoot of the British reality pop program Pop Idol created by British producer Simon Fuller which was first aired in United Kingdom in 2001. It was known as American Idol - The search for
a Superstar during its first season. The first season was anchored by television personality and Radio Jockey Ryan Seacrest co-hosted by comedian Brian Dunkleman. However, it was only Ryan who graced the rest of the seasons. The American Idol band is led by Rickey Minor.Three judges presided over the competition till the seventh season- : record producer and music manager Randy Jackson; pop singer and choreographer Paula Abdul; music executive and music manager Simon Cowell. Season 8 will see a new face, songwriter Kara Dioguardi joining the jury panel.
This Interactive Reality show/ Talent hunt seeks to discover the best singer in the United States through a series of nationwide auditions. The outcomes of the later stages of this competition are determined by public voting by phone.
